What is Title IX?
"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal Financial Assistance." - 20 U.S.C. § 1681 & 34 C.F.R. Part 106
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination based on sex in any educational programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance. This includes sexual harassment or any acts of sexual misconduct.
Metropolitan Community College is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all community members and prohibits acts of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
Scope of Title IX
Title IX applies to institutions that receive federal financial assistance from U.S. Department of Education. Educational programs and activities that receive federal funds must operate in a nondiscriminatory manner. Some key issue areas in which recipients have Title IX obligations are: recruitment, admissions, and counseling; financial assistance; athletics; sex-based harassment; treatment of pregnant and parenting students; discipline; single-sex education; and employment. Title IX also protects from retaliation individuals who make or participate in a complaint regarding something covered by Title IX.

Reminder: Any person who behaves in violation of Title IX so that protected persons are unable to enjoy the programs and/or activities of Metropolitan Community College could violate the statute on behalf of the college system.

- Retaliation for reporting any of the above misconduct

The policy ensures that OPE电子竞技官网 is complaint with Title IX. OPE电子竞技官网 Title IX Coordinators are responsible for addressing alleged violations of Title IX.
What do you need to know?
If you or someone you know at OPE电子竞技官网 has experienced any of the prohibited behaviors addressed by Title IX (listed above), you have the right to
file a complaint with the College. The College must take reasonable steps to stop the prohibited conduct, prevent future reoccurrence of the conduct, and remedy the impact of the conduct on those felt its effects.
There are resources and support available to all OPE电子竞技官网 community members who have experiences harassment and/or discrimination on the basis of sex.
